Ruth was previously a fashion designer, running her own retail business, who later qualified as a software engineer and went on to work in senior IT roles at LexisNexis (a pioneer on the Internet), Butterworths and Toshiba.

She then developed a small, independent IT consultancy and now runs EvaluateIT, an online resource for owners of small businesses that don’t have their own IT department.

Ruth comes originally from a non-technical, business background and says that this enables her to explain technical solutions to business people in a way that is easy to understand.

Based in Lancashire, EvaluateIT is a virtual IT department for entrepreneurs across the country, providing online computer help, technical support, technology articles, tips and an IT support forum.
