Can you help Ganet’s Adventure School?

United Kingdom

Ganets Adventure School is in a village near Nkhata Bay in northern Malawi. It was set up in response to the absence of pre-schooling in the area and overcrowded government primary schools.

Can you help raise funds by buying the special packs of Ganet's School Christmas cards or by making a donation?

Gertrude Banda, its principal, founded the school in 2004 but receives no government funding, relying on donations and volunteers to keep it going.

The school has grown to over 350 pupils, who range from three to fourteen years old and have to walk up to 5 miles each day to come to classes. Classes are free for orphans and pupils with disabilities.

They are in urgent need of donors, fundraisers and volunteer teachers to help the school continue to play a vital role in its community.

You can buy a pack of 12 high quality Christmas cards with envelopes for £4.50 and £4 from every pack goes direct to Ganet's Adventure School. Just email ganetsadventure@sharpsharp.co.uk to confirm P&P costs and payment methods.

A keen fundraiser is also needed to help raise money for Ganet's Adventure School from charities, trusts and businesses.

Volunteer teachers are welcomed too. Nkhata Bay is a popular backpacker destination on Lake Malawi, with its beaches and underwater wildlife. Teaching experience is useful but not absolutely necessary, as full training and supervision will be given.

Steve McInerny, the graphic designer on topenterprise, taught English at the school in 2005, en route (cycling!) from Cairo to Cape Town.

For more information and if you can make a donation or help in any way, visit Ganet’s Adventure School (page opens in a new window) and send a message.

Thank you for your help.
