Attention: ZoneAlarm firewall users

If you have experienced these problems with ZoneAlarm, you may wish to revert to the previous version

03 06 2004 United Kingdom

Numerous users of ZoneLabs’ ZoneAlarm firewall have reported problems in just the past few days, after upgrading to version 5.

Warnings have now appeared on several websites in the last two days. Typical complaints are that ZoneLabs programs have been erased after upgrading.

Some users found that Norton products did not function with ZoneAlarm and installed version 5 – only to find that the new version caused a bigger security problem than before. Others reported no problems with ZoneAlarm version 5 so far.

The common advice is not to install version 5 until the problems have been fixed by ZoneLabs.

If you experience start up problems with your PC after installing Norton AntiVirus 2002 on the same computer as ZoneAlarm, Symantec advise uninstalling Norton AntiVirus and upgrading to the latest version of ZoneAlarm.
