Microsoft issues five critical security alerts in April

Microsoft has announced eight security problems in its April security bulletins dated 12 April 2005, five of them being critical.
Patches have been released by Microsoft to fix these vulnerabilities, several of which could potentially allow remote computers to execute programs on infected machines.
- Windows 98, 2000, XP and Server 2003
- Microsoft Exchange 2000 and 2003
- Internet Explorer
- MS Office Word and Outlook
- MSN Messenger

Microsoft said that the vulnerability in Word could allow maliciously configured file headers to cause the program to crash repeatedly. The issue with Outlook could have a similar effect, but the Windows problems were potentially dangerous to data security.
